like you work in a bank and the bank files chpt. 11 you lose your house. Or when you have a health crisis and lose everything to the hospital. Are these social programs that you hate good to have then?Do republicans refuse to use the ';Social programs'; like unemployment or food coupons when disaster happens?
I suppose there is a time and a place for everything but they should be on an emergency basis not a way of life.

Social Security, Medicare, etc. are paid into by Republicans %26amp; Democrats, and Independents alike. They have every right to these benefits.


The problem republicans have with the Dem plans is that the majority of welfare receipiants in the USA are illegals, %26amp; or people who want something for nothing. It is a way of life for many. If the government can't control the scammers, losers, deadbeats, who abuse the system now why would you want to make the system larger? Take a look at many of the Katrina victims. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme......Never worked a day in their life, Yes certainly entitled to food, water, and temporary shelter. But, no this is not enough. They believe the taxpayers of this country should take care of them for life.....
Look I`m not a republican or democratic , but I do think that, is someone get unemployment , should be for no more than 3 months , and should not be able to ask again for the next 10 years.


That is enough time to find something.





Now for the health care ( i don`t agree with the system we have now ) , we need to look at Europe and how they do it. When is money to be make in the health system , is always a bad idea.





Answer your question I think they do . But look what is going on with the privates banks .....you and I are the one paying for their mistakes ....why do we need to save them ?





At the same time I have seen Hospitals and schools closing because insufficient funds.

Food coupons? Those are mainly a rip off! They give you .25-50 cents off a product that has more colorful designs but you still end up paying more for it than the product that has a plainer designer with the same food. Most people who use alot of coupons actually end up spending more money cause they think they are ';saving'; so much and have so much ';extra' -- I learned that in COLLEGE. I never needed unemployment cause I aways find work or a way to make my OWN money when needed. I don't believe in taking others hard earned income.



Most people in this country live up to the limit of their income (and beyond).Having lost my job I know how impossible it is to lose that income and still survive, if the Republicans who complain should lose their jobs they might stop being so smug and judgemental.Not everyone has family to bail them out. Why do people think only Republicans pay taxes, I worked for over 30 years and a large chunk of my money went to taxes and as a part time worker the same percentage goes to taxes now.I would prefer to see my tax money going to help people in need, or education than war and to help the big corporations.
What about ';social programs'; such as Medicare and social security. Although they don't consider these to be social programs when THEY use them.





What about businesses that are getting corporate welfare from Bush- even though they ship jobs out of the US?





Christina- Not everyone has family that can help them out. What about THOSE people? What if your family dies, then who would you turn to?

Its not that I don't think they should take help if they need it, I just think its ridiculous to be so self righteous about having aid available to others because you THINK you won't need it.

Republicans believe in these programs if they are truly needed and they do use them. But what we don't believe in is there are a lot of people who are cheating these programs and it is coming out of the taxpayer's pockets. Don't you want someone protecting your tax money and seeing that it is going to the right things?
No, nor are they against these programs in proper perspective. What you've heard is hype.





The problem is the billions and billions we give to other countries who blow the money because they know we'll just give them more.

MY POINT IS: If you tax these employers to death, they're going to send their businesses overseas and unemployment is going to rise.
If unemployment struck our family we would first rely on our savings and investments, than we would use our homes equity if we had to.


Unemployment is not an entitlement, since employers pay into it and in iowa you actually have to go through red tape to get it and it doesn't last forever, unlike welfare where some people think its a career choice.

When you talk about programs such as these, republicans run from it,,,,We no Blacks make up most of those in need for these programs, and the republicans fought to cut benefits of these programs, People think that a 95% support among blacks for Obama is racist,,,I'm a Black Man and i speak for them all,,,,,Republicans have never tried to help Black issues. They flew over us drowning in water ,,,,,and you want a vote,,,,that's not racism that starvation and eagerness for help .
Yes they do use them, especially poor people, even if they are republican. I know many who call themselves republicans and are on medicaid because they are poor. They don't even know that their own party is against them and considers them ';mooches';.





It's very sad they don't even know this.
Does it occur to you that it is government intervention that raped our savings to begin with so that getting rid of all of it and getting their hands out of our pockets would be the best way to regain the American Dream for all - rather than funnel our money through government where special interests get the benefit, rather than us?
Republicans pay more into these programs than Democrats and there is no reason Republicans should not be entitled to them too.





Just because Democracts whine about handouts doesn't mean they should be the only ones to get it... especially when Republicans are footing most of the bill.
Bush gave Billions in aid to Katrina victims.





Actually, it was the Democrat-controlled congress which passed a law to TAX the hurricane aid to victims.

They are all perfect people and never hit hard times and cannot understand anyone ever needing a helping hand. when people wonder why the world is so cold, they have only these type of people to look to, for the answer.
They don't refuse to use them they just don't want to pay for them. The only people I know who have used these programs when they didn't need them are the offspring of republicans.
