How do you double or triple coupons?

How do you do it? Do you need 2 or 3 of the same coupon, or do you just ask the cashier to scan your coupon 2 or 3 times? THANKS! :-)How do you double or triple coupons?
The way to double or triple the amount of savings using coupons is reliant on stores that double/triple the coupons. Here's how it works in a nutshell:

You give the cashier your manf. coupon that allows doubling/tripling for the item you purchased, the face value of the coupon is deducted from your total. The store will get reimbursed from the manufacturer for that initial amount. Then, the store gives you a discount equal to the amount of the coupon (in the case of doubling) or twice the amount of the face value of the coupon (thereby tripling your savings).

Stores do this instead of just taking cents off the regular price of the item you buy. Not all stores double or triple coupons, and most have limits on the amounts they will double or triple. Stores also usually limit the # of like coupons you can use per transaction. How do you double or triple coupons?
They have to be used at a store that offers this service. Here it is usually one day a weed and the store usually advertises well. The register will automatically do this for you at check out if offered in the store.
Stores that offer multiple coupon values just scan it once. The register then automatically tallies up the correct deduction.
Giant Eagle always doubles coupons. You'll have to watch for ads.
